Just a Little Update - 4th of July

It's riiiiight around the corner! My family is throwing our annual 4th of July party (although it's actually on the third). We invite all of our closest friends/family and there's food, boating, tubing, swimming and even a few fireworks! (Don't worry, my dad has a lisence!) ;)
It's gonna be awesome!
I hope everyone is having a great summer!

1st Birthday!

It is "A Dancer's Days" first birthday! (It was actually on June 12 but we can just pretend that I'm on time!) ;)

This is a great milestone in my blogging career, I'm surprisingly proud!

Thanks to those of you who have stuck with me throughout the past year and thanks to those newcomers that may be unfamiliar to the community but are ever so important to it.

PLEASE continue to comment, ask questions, e-mail and tell your friends about me! :D You guys are FABULOUS!

Thank you all so much! And happy birthday to me! (Sort of...) ;)

Summer Casting!

This summer my school is performing two different shows. One is our "Choreographer's Showcase" where choreographers from all over the state (and even out of state) come together, bringing their best numbers and we put on a big, talent-filled show. I'm performing in two different numbers that are both ballet and I'm loving them! I'm the only dancer in both dances full time and I'm already getting tired!
I find this show is a really great way to meet other dancers and see what else is out there. It's always fun to watch people you don't know dance and get to talk to them about their style/what their schools are like.
For the second show that we're doing, we are performing a new piece choreographed by our artistic director and "The Firebird" all in one performance. In Firebird, I am performing as a princess and I'm understudying "Koschei's Minion." (I think that's how you spell it!) The minion solo is SUPER fun because you get to crawl around on the floor and transform into this evil creature that lurks in dark forests. And it's even more special knowing the dancer I'm understudying is our principle dancer.  I'm very excited to start rehearsals!

In the ballet piece, I am in the first movement doing a quartet with three other dancers who are soloists. (And me being a little choir dancer makes this is a BIG step for me!) I'm also understudying a pas de tois and the dancer I'm understudying will be out of the state for a few days, so I'll get to do it! :D

I am so thrilled!

I hope everyone is having a great start to summer! The weather is great here and my skin is already pink!
Thanks for reading! <3

We all have to deal with it! The world of ballet (Or many other activities) can be very competitive. When you trap a bunch of teenage girls and boys inside a classroom (or dressing room) drama is inevitable. I had an anonymous poster with a question that I'd like to share with everyone.

hello. i have requests 4 u!!!!!

so i live in utah!! and i go to this dance school there. and i really liked it until like 2 years ago. but now there's this drama!!!!! there's this boy (we used to go out !) and we broke up! and now he hates me! and the boy, alvin, that's his name. he moved up!!!! and now he told all of his friends that i'm mean! BUT I'M NOT! and it's annoying. so there's all this drama!!!!
but i have friends that dance at other schools!!!!!!!! and they always say there's no drama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & i get so frusurated because there's so much at my school! ughhhhh is there drama at your school? HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH IT?!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!?

Dear Anonymous,
Believe me, there is PLENTY of drama at my school and there always will be. I'm not sure what age you are but around the era of late jr. high and early high school there will be A LOT of drama. After that age passes people tend to not care for the drama and they grow up. So just hang in there! It's tough, I know, but if this school is something that makes you happy (minus the drama of course!) I wouldn't give up on it.
I deal with drama mostly depending on the situation which varies a lot. So in your situation your ex, Alvin. I'm not sure but it sounds like you broke up with him, making him upset with you. So now he is venting that hurt by telling other people you're not a good person.
(If that isn't the case please let me know!)
If I were in your situation then I would stick close to my friends. They are the people that you can depend on during times like this, the people that know you aren't going to listen to the things your ex may be spreading.
Things like this always blow over eventually. It's just a matter of hanging in there until it does!
If things don't improve, perhaps you could VERY gently talk to Alvin, apologize for possibly making him feel hurt and ask if you could move past that and be more mature about things. Coming at him in a more confrontational manner may scare him off and make things worse.
Good luck with everything!
